About Us

History

The Sacramento Cultural & Linguistic Center, formerly known as the Southeast Asian Assistance Center and, before that, the Indo-Chinese Assistance Center, is an interfaith Service Bureau program that has been serving Southeast Asian refugees for 35 years, dating back to 1977. The organization was officially incorporated on August 20, 1990.

In February 2022, SCLC relocated to the Arden area and is currently in the process of rebranding. As part of this rebranding effort, the agency is expanding its services to include cultural programs and services in addition to linguistic services. The agency remains committed to serving limited English proficient (LEP) communities, but with a more comprehensive approach that aims to engage and support diverse communities through cultural celebration.

SCLC will continue its mission of providing assistance and support to individuals facing various challenges, including legal issues, health concerns, landlord/tenant disputes, school-related matters, community conflicts, gang activity, family issues, and immigration problems. This new direction reflects SCLC's dedication to embracing and celebrating the cultural diversity of the communities it serves.
